My power supply has three of the larger supply-cables and two of the
smaller type. The three larger ones were going to the HD and the two
floppies. The DM-3024 needed a large connector but one of my floppies was
using an adapter to go from the larger to the smaller size. I removed the
adapter and used the small connector for the floppy and the large one for
the Texel. I will say that I've got quite enough ribbon cable in the
system now! <g>.
I had a couple of problems with the system just locking up right after I
installed. This I think was due to the new SCSI ribbon cable blocking the
air vents on the power supply. This may have caused the system to get too
hot. I moved the ribbon cable away from the vents and now the 486/33 is
humming.
I would tend to agree with Bill on your supply problem though. It sounds
as though your power supply may be inadequate for the addition of the
Texel. You should check the rating and add up your components that use it.
My aim is more along the programming lines. I'm using the MSDN CD and the
NT beta stuff. My wife tried out the games and says "blecchh" <g>. What
do you want for free? <g>

Bill & Bill (hmmm, just noticed!),
Thanks for your thoughts. After sending my messages out, I spoke with both
Texel & my PC's tech support. To make a long story short, they both agree
that I should have enough power via the power supply. The problem could be
(1) the $3.49 Y splitter power cable I purchased from Radio Shack, or (2)
the 3024 might have just had a bad day (permanently!?!?). The consensus
seems to be with (1). By the way, just as the PC tech said, if I look hard
enough, I will find another power supply cable. I'm going to contact HDI
about another drive (good thing I took out the EXTENDED warranty! Will
keep you posted…….
Regarding the games, I shouldn't complain – I have WAY TOO MUCH to do to
worry about whether Bruce Lee lives or not!!
Again, appreciate your assistance. I'm really excited about this _stuff_,

Before returning the drive, I would just disconnect one of your floppies
and use that power connector for the Texel. This would be a good test of
the Y cable theory and maybe save you some shipping time.

Well, I guess you'll just have to get her the CDROM version of King's Quest
VI, won't you!! Do that and you can say goodbye to your machine for quite
some time <g>

Well Bill, it's a good thing she doesn't usually snoop around this forum.
If she would have seen the note about KQ… oooh boy.
That's going to be a future gift idea though.
