I just got a CD-ROM from DAK. It is an RTM CR-501-T (but when it starts up it says something about a Matsushita?). Where can I get specs for this drive? How can I find the access time? Will Norton Utilities test the drive? Thanks in advance… Jim from Penngrove

As far as I know, Norton Utilities will not test CDROM drives. It is limited to testing of Hard Disk Drives. I believe Matsushita is a huge Japanese conglomerate (parent to Panasonic, Quasar, Magnavox and others). I found this out when buying my Quasar CamCorder. I doubt this information helps but thought you might find interesting.

I also got a DAK CD-ROM… I like using the cd launcher, But the output only goes to the phones jack on the face of the BSR drive. I would like to use the sound blaster card (ver. 1.5). Any help? Thanks, Marty

Martin, PMBI, but I also have a BSR(Sony)(DAK) drive connected to my SB version 1.5. What you need is a Y plug with 2 RCA jacks (you can get those at any stero store) and hook them into the back of the drive. Then run the single plug into the input plug of the SB. That's all there is to it. Let me know if it works. Phil Haase 🙂
