Data and information generated by the U.S.Government, and I would imagine, the state and city governments as well belongs to the people. The probably includes all the stuff that has been financed with public funds through the millions of research projects at the universities (where the student or professor always seems to cop the product and make a mint taking it public), plus NASA, the military, and so on. If this stuff belongs to us, why don't they give it to us? In fact, many government agencies will HAPPILY give you the data for no more than the cost of the media they convey it on (tape, etc). They WANT you to publish it in a usable format. So what is wrong with you folks? Why don't you go do it? I'm waiting! Note: * Citizen that wants to pay for it!
