#Redirecting output

I'm sure this is a basic AmigaDOS question, but I don't know the answer.
How do I redirect output to a file through preferences? I'm running
the video editing software MediaEditor, which has a print icon. When
you want to print the edit list, you just press the icon and it
prints according to the specs set in preferences. But on the machine
I'm using I don't have a printer hooked up to it, so I'd like to
print to a file and then print it off another Amiga.
I know how to redirect output through the command line, but I've no clue
how to change preferences to a file.
Any thoughts?

I'm afraid that it's up to the program to decide where to 'print'.
You'll have to read the docs fairly closely to find out whether it can
'print' to a file.
I was advised to use the CMD AmigaDOS command which redirects output from
the specified device to a file. Worked great!

Ah yes….I forgot about CMD. I don't use it myself and one tends to
forget about things one doesn't use
If the output is text, use the program "CMD" in Sys:Tools/. If the output is
graphics, get the file VRTPRT.LHA from the AmigaUser Forum.
The output was text and I used the CMD command. Worked wonderfully.
