I've had a fairly long running exchange in the AMUGUSER section and no one has come up with an answer so I thought I would try here. I have an AMIGA 2000 running 2.04 DOS with a 68020 accelerator, 3MB of memory, a 2091 hard drive SCSI interface that has a SEAGATE 177N hard drive on it. I have been trying to interface an external Grassroots (Insite) Floptical drive to it. I am able to read preformatted Floptical diskettes and HDTOOLBOX recognizes the drive and gets the correct parameters. However, whenever I try to low level format, regular format, or write to a Floptical a little black box opens and says Error 29. Does anyone know what this is trying to tell me? —–Paul—–

Hav you tried the Unlock program that is floating around for the flopticals? The older flopticals defaulted to write protect (at the device level, not the disk level, and of course, Amy doesn't understand this. If you've tried the unlock program, then, I'd say either your floptical drive is bad, or, your controller. (If you have other drives on the controller, and they work, the controllers probably okay. Hold it, I just remebered something, what version of ROM do you have in the 2091, I seem to remeber something about older versions not supporting SCSI direct properly. I had never heard anything about an unlock program but another guy emailed it to me in the same session where I uploaded the question here. It worked like a charm. Thanks for the info. —–Paul—–
