#HD Floppies on a 2000

Does any one have any experience using high densoty floppy drives on a A2000 or
500? I was going to purchase one for my 2000 thinking that all I needed was the
2.04 ROM but my local dealer insists that they won't work on a 2000 or a 500.
He is primarily an IBM guy. Can anyone give me the benefit of their real world

As long as it's the Commodore HiD floppy it'll work great on your 2000, as
long as you use it as DF0: if you don't have this neato patch that let's
you use it as another drive… (I have an external HiD floppy on my
1200.)
You might have to make a new floppy eject button though.

THE PC GUY IS FULL OF BALONEY. I have two HD floppies working OK. One thing t
to remember is to pull Jumper J301 for DF1: to work if you go to two drives.
Also there are jumpers in the drive that must be in the appropriate positions
for their locations.
More Support of HD floppies. I have been using HD floppies (Labeled 2.0 meg)
for years on my 2000, 500, 2500 series. If you are having a problem, you may
be having a hardware problem. I distribute 2000 boxes in an industrial high
dust area, and the only problems I ever have are with Floppy drives that fail,
and power supplies that get dusty.
