David, One of the most common reasons for munging a hard disk is using the Vulcan nerve Pinch (CTRL-Amiga-Amiga) too soon after w write operation. If you watch your drive LED, you will see a write happen, then a 3 second pause, then another flash. The second flash is crucial. You should always wait fo it before you reset. I don't know if that's your problem, but it bears repeating for HD owners. Regards, Larry.

thanks, that's helpful info. I believe I munged it by messing with icons and directory names – used the wrong icon type, renamed it, erased it, etc. I'm glad for the 3-sec info on the drive. – dr

Its amazing how hard that is to learn – on a floppy you tend to hear it so you remember, but on the hd you don't. Either way, it is a real pleasure to have a smoothly working hd! Ron
