#Gigamem Use

All you Gigamem users:
Does the product do what it advertises?
Thanks for your reply.
–Don.
Don,
I've been using it for nearly 1 year with NO problems on an accelerated
2000. Adpro, ImageMaster 1.05 (with stack set to 8000 (that's more than
the default)), ProPage 4.1, AutoPilot 1.0x.
Absolutely works as advertised.

Jan-
I bought Gigamem a year ago as well, but only had problems with it.
Especially with ADPro and Imagemaster, which are the programs I wanted it
for. I too have an accelerated Amiga 2000, with 12MB 32-bit RAM. Could you
tell me your configuration for Gigamem? Where do you set the stack to 8000
Gigamem or Imagemaster?
Any suggestions?

Jochen,
Let's see:
WB 2.1; 2.04 rom; 2630 + latest rom, 2 megs; 2091 latest rom, 2 megs; 4
megs 16-bit; Maxtor 345 hd with a VMEM partition of 30 megs, formatted in
HDTools as "reserved" file format.
GigMem 3.0:
Buffer Memory 1.0 meg
Cache Memory 480 kb
Swap Medium Entire Partition
. VMEM
AdPro Normal Memory First
ImageMaster r/t 1.05 Normal Memory First
. (In the ImageMaster Icon, on the
. WorkBench, I got info for the icon,
. set the stack to 8000. I've alerted
. Black Belt of this.)
So, I've had no problems at all. and it sure is neat seeing 30 megs of
memory available, however slow it might be.
Hope this helps you.

Thanks for that info on your Gigamem config. It does not seem strange to
me. That setups don't work for me. But i have Gigamem 2.x for that
respect. Do/Did you have any problems with your many sorts of memory. My
ADPro keeps crashing and I think it comes from different memory cunks
used. This gets even worse with Gigamem…

My Gigamem settings are: buffer memory 2 mgs/cache 510/swap medium entire
partition (sysquest 105) Adpro "virtual memory first"/and the sam same for
Imagemaster. In IMR/T I found that the virtual memory kicked i after loading
my 1st picture.

Are you using it with Morh Plus?
–Don.
Yes, quite well in fact.

Don,
What is Gigamem?
Paul Fish
Gigamem is a software utility that turns hard disk space into virtual memory
that many programs can address as RAM.
–Don.
They finally came out with a rev. for 040 systems and I've been using it
for a while. It works great if you don't need it much. It's kinda slow on
my system.
It's a great solution for expanding ram above atleast 8 meg fast. I use it
to handle print res Toaster stuff that require 24 meg ram, I got 8 meg
16-bit and 8 meg 32-bit RAM. And 100 meg dedicated v-mem partition for
Gigamem.
Of course it may depend on your application, nothing can replace real
ram.

Have you used it with Morph Plus?
–Don.
I haven't used Gigamem with Morphplus, but ADPro seems to work fine for me
and I'm running Adpro 2.xx .
Planning on doing some GIANT morphs or what???
