For a battlemech i need a military-look mapping. I did some paintings with ANI-Pro (I'm not very familiar with this programm) and they are satisfying. But…they are not tileable.-( How can I produce tileable maps (with AniP)?. Soeren Gerlach

Don't know how to do it with AniPro, but Photoshop PhotoStyler and CricketPaint all have filters to let you shift an image diagonally and wrap the shifted out regions around. Once youv'e done that the edges will match up, now just touch up the lines that were created by shift. PhotoShop has a tutorial on it in the "Beyond the basics book". Ian.

Could you clarify what you mean by a tileable map?

Ed – A tileable map is one that can be tiled without showing seams where the edges come together. DT

It's worth noting that though the seams are obscured, the repeat pattern of the tile is not (eg., the center pattern of pixes repeats on a grid). Chuck Jameson Silver Tongue Software

True enough, but, let's face it; there's no way to tile an image without having the image repeated. That's what tiling means. It's just that it's not so blatantly obvious and, to the casual glance and/or in the right usage, the tiling can become effectively invisible. I've made a few, manually. It's a pain in the rear, timewise, but can yield swell results. DT

David, Oh I agree. I too have made a few. Whoever started this thread might want to try making one by hand to get a bit-level feel for the process. Chuck Jameson Silver Tongue Software
