I'm selling my A4000/040 for $1900. It has 10 meg RAM, 120 IDE hard drive, etc.
,but it does have the old motherboard. Please feel free to make an offer. It's

Hi Cris.
NOW you contact me. I bought a new one last week. However, I
am already suffering "slot deprivation" and am considering an
A2000, 3000, or another 4000 for help there. My sys is locked
with SMPTE time code and a peer/peer LAN.
SCSI is a must in my setup. Do you know the logistics of the motherboard
upgrade? I saw details in one of the Amiga mags but it's
fuzzy now. Is your buster soldered or socketed?

Sorry about the delay in contacting you. I've been extremely busy over the last
3 weeks, and I haven't had much chance to logon.
From what I hear of the motherboard upgrade, there is a long delay in recieving
them. I believe, though, that there is a 3rd party SCSI II board that works
with the old Buster chip. (I'm not sure about it.)
Anyway, get in contact with me if your interested.

I'm in the same shape timewise. I'd need the seller to get data on the upgrade
situation… source, cost, delivery time etc. I would only be interested in a
upgraded model. Too many other snags to track down and debug. Add this
situation to the list of Commodore idosyncracies.

Ted, You mentioned that you are suffering from slot deprivation. Have you ever
seen anything about the "Toaster Toolbox"? I saw a little blurb about it in AW
a while back. Think that it is built and sold by a company in Kansas City. It
gives you about 8 slots I believe and several drive bays too if I remember
right. The price was about $200-300…. If you can't find anything about it
let me know and I will try to find that issue.

Hey Jim.
I'm aware of outboard "containers". These are (to the best of my knowledge) AT
slots and bays with a power supply. These are great for cards/perips needing
power and a place to live. They are for
hard/floppy drives, CD-ROM, TBC cards, etc. I'm currently using
an enormous PC tower rig for this purpose. Not very elegant but
I can't give up a card slot in the A4000 for a Kitchen Sync.
What I need is an extention of the motherboard with direct bus
access like the Zorro IIIs or the video slot. I have heard of
developer interest in such a device that plugs into the A4000
video slot. I know of nothing that is shipping. (Someone
PULEEEEZE tell me I'm wrong!!)

Ted, I talked to the company that is building and selling the Toaster Toolbox a
few months back. From what he told me, this box will work on a 2000, 3000 or
4000. It supposedly adds Zorro slots (8 I believe) and also drive bays. Also,
a month or 2 back my distributor was pushing some solution where they hooked a
2000 up to a 4000 and supposedly were able to use the Zorro slots on the 4000
then. I think that the Toolbox blurb was in the August issue of Amiga World…

There's some updates on this situation in the Jan. '94 Amiga World.
Seems several developers are working on this. Whoever is first
will do all right. The fastlane scuzzy/ram card proves that. What
happened to GVP here? They've always been on the edge.
