hi gary i believe there is an ipas developer package that is offered by autodesk. will this pakage give me the full ability to produce my own ipas ideas. do i need to have programing experiance and be math gooroo to be able to use it or can an average computer user use it. thanks ara

Ara: You definitely need to be 'way above the average computer user to use it. But then the average computer user couldn't figure out how to get on CompuServe to post a question like that! <g> You need to be an experienced C programmer, with familiarity with the Phar Lap DOS extender and the Watcom or MetaWare 32 bit compilers. greg thanks for the reply. i have no experiance in any of the items you refered to. do you see it as a realistic option to learn the programing languages in part time hobby bases quickly enough in order to design ipas programs or is it a seiouse longterm/fulltime proposal? can you please drop me a note. thanks ara

Ara, Don't "hold your self back"!!. Before you say no, get some exposure to c++ and make the determination then. My brain and C++ do not work (I actually like LISP <Yuk>). However, my ex-partner picked it up enough in two months to write a custom Roll-Tool design program on a SPARC!!!!! He had no exposure previously (and he is also VERY gifted). But, you don't know if there is a C++ guru inside you until you try….. Chuck PS There are less expensive compilers to "start" with that Watcom and Metaware, but you will have to master the PHAR-LAP DOS Extender environment.

ARA, I agree with Greg, you will need to know C. There is plenty of help here to get you kicked off if you decided to go for it. Gus G. is always up and is alot of help. Ara: That totally depends on you! But with the help available on this forum, someone with a good programming background and enough time should be able to do it (with the possible exception of ChuckM, but that's more a personal problem <g,d,& r!>).
