Hi, I managed to download Auto pilot and relative docs. After uncompressing the
file I installed the program, adding the appropriate assign commands but every
time I click on the icon I get the following messages: a) "Autopilot.forums not
found, using defaults" and b) "Cannot save "AP:autopilot.forums". Once I OK
these system messages I enter the program, set it up and actually managed to
get connected, and then everything froze up. That is, after several automatic
set ups the cursor hust froze, crashed, whatever. I rebooted but all my
settings were gone, even after I had saved them. OOOPS? What is it that I've
done wrong here? Any help. This has already caused me several, no many, hours

Did you reboot your computer after placing the
ASSIGN AP: <pathname:autopilot>
command in your user-starup?
It sounds as if the assign is not correct… can you tell me EXACTLY what
the path is to your AutoPilot directory?
Hi, thanks for your prompt reply regarding my problems with Autopilot.
I use Atalk3 as my communications program and I installed autopilot in the AT
directory, so the path I indicated in my User-startup is
Assign AP: Work:AT/Autopilot
I also tried to take Autopilot out of AT and left it alone in work: then
changed the assign to
ASSIGN AP: Work:Autopilot
but had the same results.
Sorry to bother you again. Any furthur help will be appreciated.

Your assign statements are correct… but you didn't say if you rebooted
the computer so that they take affect.
If you did, please let me know, but post your message to the AP section in
AmigaVendor where you will receive support from AForums (as well as myself
and others).

You went one step too far in your ASSIGN.
If AutoPilot is in the AT directory, then your assign would be:
ASSIGN AP: WORK:AT
The computer would then follow the path to Work, then AT, and in that
directory it will find AutoPilot, for which it is looking. As you have
it, it is trying to find a directory Work:AT/AutoPilot, and AutoPilot is a
program, not a directory. (That is – unless you did make a subdirectory
in AT: named AutoPilot, in which case your assign statement would be
correct.)

Mario,
If you saved your settings, they must still be there somewhere. I suspect
that you were in the wrong directory when they were saved, and they were
saved to that wrong directory.
Check your User-Startup to make sure your ASSIGN AP: statement is there
and that it is correct. Then, after making sure, try doing your setup
again and see if it does not work better.
And let us know if you are still having problems.
