We're currently trying to locate papers concerning the addition of hair-like substance on computer generated 3D entities. If anyone knows of specific reference materials, trade publications, Siggraph publications, thesis', etc., we would be indebted for any information pertaining to such sources. Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul, I suspect you may know this already, but the SIGGRAPH proceedings do have a number of papers on hair, from Ken Perlin's 1989 work on HyperTextures up through the Hitachi folks' 1992 paper on "Extracting the Natural Beauty of Hair", complete with dynamic collision avoidance for bobbed hairstyles, I kid you not. <g> But if you're looking to simulate the *appearance* of hair, have you considered post-processing? "Paint Alchemy" from Xaos Tools is an amazing Photoshop plug-in… available on the Mac right now, with its big sibling Pandemonium on SGI, but you may wish to buzz them at 600 Townsend #270E, SF CA 94103 for info on future PC ports. Hope this helps! John D.
