Tape drive invisible?
3 messages in this thread
I have a CSA 12 Gauge in my 1200, and it has a SCSI controller. I just
hooked up a WangTek E5525ES SCSI-II tape drive to the SCSI controller, but
nothing seems to recognize it. Does anyone know what I have to do?
Thanks
Paul
Paul, I believe that the tape drive will not "come up" as a device unless you
are running Tapeworm which lets you mount it as an amigados device. I have had
some success with the public domain SCSI tape handler here in the libs, but it
is a little tricky. In any case, run HDtoolbox to see if the drive is listed
(even though it may have ? by it.
No, it isn't listed – that's the thing. HDToolbox has no listing of it,
and although HDBackup has a "tape:" entry on the device menu, whenever I
select it and start a backup HDBackup just asks me to insert volume 1 in
the tape drive. And when I run HDToolbox with csascsi.device as a
parameter, it scans – or says it's scanning – the scsi device and finds
nothing. And Amiback can't read the defaults of the tape drive when I
specify csascsi.device as the tape drive's device.
So I really have no idea what's going on, and CSA is on vacation and this
tape drive is going bye-bye very soon.
Thanks for the offering though!
Paul
