The ADA (Amiga Developers Association) Met its demise quietly about
two years ago. I was President for a year and then another group of
individuals took over. They attempted to make an impact, but I think that both
them and speaking only for myself I think that we all met with a staunch
INDIVIDUALISM on the part of vendors and users. Unlike the other compter
platforms which either have mass quantities of users (PC) or a computer maker
that supports the users (MAC) the Amiga while having ardent support users have
had little to crow about when it comes to a large user base or a company that
is aggresive in supporting what the users want.
I think that CBM has a different agenda than does the user who owns an
Amiga. CBM is a consumer level electronics company and as such are intersted
in the low cost, high profit game market or home entertainment market. I am
sure that they have a defined direction for the future but at the present they
have not given much of a clue to the present user base what that direction is.
Therefore, Dominick, I doubt that in the past or now and into the
future will there be a cohesive attempt by the vendor base making Amiga
software to join together and address the problems and opportunities that face
the marketplace.
It is indeed too bad that this is the state of the Amiga community at
large as it relates to CBM. Mind you that there are many great companies who
perservere in the Amiga market and will prevail with great products as long as
there are users who will buy those products.

Thanks so much for the ADA report and your other comments.
I remember that at the time you were elected President of the ADA, I
had occasion to speak to Jan Jackson, who worked for Amiga World at that
time. She had seen you at an Amiga show and she referred to you as
"colorful." 😎 Just thought you'd be interested in that tidbit.
