November 1994
Dear Authorized Autodesk Dealer:
UPDATE ON AUTODESK ANIMATOR* STUDIO!
For those of you that were able to attend CAD Camp 94 or Seybold will recall
the exciting announcement and preview of our new product called Autodesk
Animator Studio. At that time we had projected a release date for late in
December.
We have rescheduled the release date of Animator Studio to Q1 of FY 96 (a more
specific date to come soon). This additional development time will allow
Animator Studio implementation of Quicktime for Windows & Photoshop filter
support, as well as speed optimization and performance tuning of the software.
Animator Studio promises to be a spectacular software program and we want to
make sure we deliver on that promise. (Q1, FY96 is March-May 1995)
Please remember that once the product starts shipping there will be a migration
path for people now using Autodesk Animator, Multimedia Explorera and or
Animator Proa. US based pricing is as follows:
From Animator or Multimedia Explorer to Animator Studio: US$395
From Animator Pro to Animator Studio: US$295
Suggested List Price for Animator Studio: US$795
In addition customers who purchase or upgrade to the existing Animator Pro 1.3
between September 13, 1994 and the Autodesk Animator Studio ship date will be
eligible to migrate to Animator Studio for US$150 upon its availability. All
customers will be allowed to keep their original software as part of the
migration offer.
Nobody likes to slip a ship date. But here at Autodesk we are committed to
delivering the best possible product, and this is a case where were taking a
little more time to do just that.
Good Selling!
Joe Fantuzzi
General Manager, Multimedia Division
That upgrade pricing is different that previously announced. Autodesk was
offering a $150 upgrade price to those upgrading before the release date. What
happened to that offer?
