#fedtax87.wks

Rick, Did you find that ANALYZE!2.0 had any problems with fedtax87.wks? I
found that after archiving from 123 format (changed ext to .wks) that a)
sometimes analyze!2.0 would lockup during loading. b) if loading was
successful, any attempt to change any cell (after protect disable) would send
the Amiga into never-never land (no guru, just strange wavy vertical lines).
I found that if the 123 format load was successful, I could save to .sht
format. If I then loaded .sht format in, then Analyze!2.0 seemed to accept
cell changes OK. However, there are still a number of strange characters in
some of the cells, and ANALYZE! did not convert any of the 123 named ranges
(so macros don't work, etc.) These can be corrected, but I worry about the
what might the accuracy of the result be. (As I write this, your upload is
not yet on DL8). BOB Adams 75275,1102
Hi Bob,
Yes…I had the same problems. It isn't too surprising since fedtax.wks
was written for 1-2-3 version 2 and Analyze only imports 1-2-3 version 1.4 or
before. The way I solved the problem was to do essentially what you
discovered…ie: once I got it read in I quickly saved it in .sht format.
Then I started Analyze again with the original 1-2-3 version and ANOTHER
analyze with the analyze version of the sheet. Then I found that I could use
the formula export feature to export a formula out of the .wks and import it
into the .sht. That took care of most of the "garbage" that appeared in the
.sht version. The .wks version made fairly heavy use of lotus's new string
functions, which we don't have in Analyze, so I called the Author to get help
on that since the formulas didn't even show up in Analyze. I didn't feel too
bad about all this…Lotus 1-2-3 version 1.4 won't even ATTEMPT to read a
.wk1 file…even if you change the extension. So, the amazing thing is that
Analyze was able to import the sheet at all!
