James, To begin with, there are several levels of "vga to ntsc" devices on the market. Ranging from a couple of hundred dollars to several thousand. Depending on your budget and quality needs, there can be only on choice. The DPS Personal Animation Recorder. This full length card has a proprietary hard drive on which you store sequential targa files for animations. It then plays them back, in real time at 30 frames per second or 60 fields, out to broadcast quality S-VHS, betacam, or MTII. This product, along with the hard drive can usually be found for about $2500.00. I use them every day in my business and couldnt imagine working without them. If you are just producing videos for home use and don't need the high quality, several cards/periphials are available at the $400.00 range. Usually these are only capable of 640×480 @256 colors. This will either cause pixelation when stretching to NTSC, or create a black border around your animations.
