Running the 3D Modeling Studio version of Imagine 2.0
on my 486SL2/50 (12 MB, msdos 6.2, doublespaced drive, AMIBIOS, 1992)
causes it to reset. The /noxms switch returns to the c: prompt.
I tried the recommended config and autoexec files:
DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
BUFFERS=10,0
FILES=40
DOS=UMB
LASTDRIVE=S
FCBS=16,0
DEVICEHIGH=C:\DOS\SETVER.EXE
DOS=HIGH
devicehigh=mouse.sys
STACKS=9,256
@ECHO OFF
PATH C:\WINDOWS;C:\DOS
SET TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
prompt $p$g
cls
I tried to removing all the boards (except VGA and hard disk).
The same disks work on a 486DX33 at work (msdos 6.2).
I tried the VGA from the 486DX33.
Any ideas as to the cause?

Use your standard startup files, just try substituting the following for your:
DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS /shadowram:on
DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE RAM HIGHSCAN
This should allow you to use the same startup files for all your software, and
allow Imagine to be run with the /noxms switch. If this fails, remove the
"/shadowram:on" switch from the first line.

The slc based cpu does not have a co processor and it needs one to run
Imagine.
We have had a few problems in this vain, so I guess the best thing to
do is run it on the other computer that has no problems.
I must admit in all honesty that this problem is still the same for
Imagine 3.0 and higher, you must have a DX machine so that the code can do what
it does properly.

What about a coprocessor emulator?
While I'm talking to you I have a few ideas.
How about a snap to grid x, Y or Z function? So you can only snap in one
direction?

About that SLC. I used to have a TI 486/slc, and I couldn't get it to work,
even with a Coprocessor. I talked to Impulse customer service and was told
that it would not work with an SLC period… Just my experience, I am now on
an AMD 386, just to run ACAD and Imagine.
