#Help! PAR & Window

I've been using PAR for few months now. Recentlly I found something
strange going on. In windows, I can't see any directories and files
in PAR directory. I have 'C' and 'D' as normal DOS directory and 'E'
for PAR. When I try access to PAR directory, it shows 'D'
directories and files. If I try any of these directories, it changes
to e:\ and no files. Please someone help on this.

Are you by any chance using a network on the machine with the PAR?
Perhaps an old version of PC-NFS or something? Try a test booting
without your network software running and seeing if it works without
it. Let me know if this helps!

yes, I use Lantastic 6.0 but I found that 32-file access was the problem.
When I disable 32bit-file access mode, all the problems are corrected.

It sounds like the problem you are having is related to the 32 bit
file access that Windows for Workgroups supports. You need to turn
the 32 bit file access off. This is a problem with the PAR drive and
32 bit access, the PAR drive bypasses the DOS file management system
which creates this conflict.

Now all the problems are gone.
Does 32 bit access affect alot on the performance?

Glad to help out! As for the 32-bit file access I use SCSI and it is not
supported, but if you are using some of the newer drives 10 millisecond access
or less you probably won't notice much difference. The 32-bit file access
creates a 32-bit cache on your for file management on your hard disk while
working in Windows. Disk caching is great but if you are hitting your hard disk
often you are probably running low on ram. Adding ram would be much more
productive than disk cashing.

I noticed your message about Razor Pro. There is currently a few bugs in the
MCI driver and I was told that there was going to be a patch comming up real
soon. There is a way to play the PAR files now but there is a problem while
using the MCI and the PAR. READ this REAL CAREFULLY!!!! Make sure the PAR drive
is in ANI format (i.e. pardrv /p). Load Media Player from Windows, under the
devices menu select DPS Player and then load a ANI file from the PAR drive,
next select the devices menu again and at the bottom you will be able to select
configure at this time you will be able to attach sound files ala you now have
sound with the PAR. Now HERE COMES THE DANGEROUS PART!!! After selecting the
play button DO NOT use any options with the player except to STOP the animation
and before you load or exit the player MAKE SURE YOU choose " FILE,CLOSE "
before doing anything!!! If you don't follow these instructions YOU WILL CRASH
YOUR PAR DRIVE!! If you have any questions please call IN:SYNC or E-MAIL me.

I could play both .ani file and sound together.
I still have some problem and I hope you can help me again. 🙂
When I start Razor Pro, it gives me a error message, 'Can't write to device
AUX'.
But I still can use the program no problem(?).
After using the program, when I close the program it gives me another error
message, 'AVLIBRAR caused a General Protection Fault In module MSVIDEO.DLL at
0006:038A'
Can you help me this one?

Please download the latest version of RAZOR PRO from the BBS. I
believe that your are using an old version of the software.

I have been off the forum a few days. As far as the crash in Razor Pro, I had
a few of those also with the first release, In:Sync has fixed all of the bugs I
reported immediately. I have been very happy with the tech support from
In:Sync. They are there when you need them! You need to call there BBS to get
the latest upgrade to Razor Pro. There number is in the manual. Good Luck.

Yes, there support is exellent!
I downloaded latest version(v1.1) but still has errors.
I found MSVIDEO.DLL in video for windows v1.1d conflicts with something.
I reinstalled older version of MSVIDEO.DLL and General Protection Fault error
is gone. But still has 'Can't write to AUX' error.
I think I will check with all my drivers installed in my computer.
