I am in the process of upgrading my PC from a 486/66 with 32 megs ram
to a P90 with 64 megs of ram. I am looking at the Stealth 64 w 4 meg
Vram I was wondering if anyone has run into and compatibility
problems with 3DS and the above system???? I am all eyes!!!
Paul,

I'm using the 4 meg #9GXE64Pro which uses the same S3 964 chip that the Stealth
64 vram uses, and it has performed flawlessly.

Paul,
I have a Pentium 90 (Micronics M/B, Intel chipset), with a Diamond Stealth 64
2mb VRAM. I can't report any problems with that combination running 3d Studio.
However, I can't get Windows to run at 800×600 16.7m colours. I get an error.
It works fine at 64k colours, though.

I have a stealh 64 VRAM 2meg and have found it very good with 3D Studio R4. I
have, however found probs with some DOS base apps, eg: Vistapro, Animator Pro
and others. The probs exhibited themselves as mouse compatibility issues.
Diamond sent me a new EPROM for the board and that helped tho I still have a
slow response to mouse double click on .flc to load from browse screen in Ani
Pro. Also note that the Diamond util to print video config tells me I own a PCI
version of the board when in fact it is VLB. Diamond has not responded to
this. I know this info goes beyond your question but "no news is NOT good
news!".

Digger,
Can you get Animator Pro to work in vesa or super vga modes? I have been unable
to get anything better than the 320×200 vanilla mode. If so, how did you do it?
Hi Martin,
*** Can you get Animator Pro to work in vesa or super vga modes? ***
Yes, I am able to run all modes up to 1024 X 768. If I remember correctly I had
to undo my previous VESA drivers. I am now only running SVGA.
I'll look and see what exactly I have setup and send you another message.

Bill,
please let me know exactly which drivers you are using etc. I can't get the
thing to work with the supervga.drv that comes with it.
Martin, I just looked at my ani pro files. What I have is VESA.DRV, file size
22,959. Dated 10-15-92 at 20:37:22 hrs. I believe this drvr came with my
Truevision VideoVGA card which the stlth64 replaced in my system. I looked
into the VESA.DRV file and the comment says it will work for any SVGA card that
supports VESA modes in BIOS or TSR. I vaguely remember a posting here once
regarding a universal SVGA VESA driver. If u could find one your trouble would
be solved. What driver/card setup were u running prior to the stlth64? Bill
Bill,
I don't have the vesa.drv, just a supervga.drv and it's a new system and newly
installed software – maybe you could e-mail me the vesa.drv file you have. I'd
greatly appreciate it if you could.
