Hi Jonas. I am trying to Render on A network, I have read the document and it doesn't help. I have the following computer configuration (please tell me what should I do?) Windows NT advance Server 3.5 Stations: Windows for workgroups or Microsoft Netbui 3DSTUDIO Rel. 4 With Thanks Sus. P.S. I have tried to start 3D-Studio from the NT Server but it wrote an error message somthing about pharlap ( I now you should add the Pharlap.386 driver to the 386enh section in the system.ini but I think the NT does not use the system.ini so when I added the line "driver=Pharlap.386" it didn't make any diffrence" Please help Sus.

<<PMJI, but 3DS is not compatible with NT.>> Yes Bill, I know that, but I have Add-ons for dos and I thought I could use them. Isn't there ANY way to use Network Rendering with the NT server? Sus.

Sus, PMFJI, << Isn't there ANY way to use Network Rendering with the NT server? >> Are you asking if you can use a Win NT server to store the frames and link all of the 3ds slave computers together but not actually be doing the rendering, I think Brian Rudolph-adesk 71722,170 has done this. Mark

Hi Mark <<Are you asking if you can use a Win NT server to store the frames and link all of the 3ds slave computers together>> No. I have enough disk space in my local drive. My Q. was How can I make the connection and the sharing on the dos level, Which drivers to use? after i'll see other computers on my local screen, then 3DS will recognize them too. Sus.

Sus, << How can I make the connection and the sharing on the dos level, Which drivers to use? after i'll see other computers on my local screen, then 3DS will recognize them too. >> I think it can be done but I don't know anything more than that. It would be best to talk to Brian about it. Mark

Yyou can use the NT machine as a SERVER( ie, a place to keep files, and have a common, shared directory) and the other machines will run the DOS Windoes for Workgroups network software as 3DS masters and slaves. 3DS will never run on the machine that has NT, it is not compatable. For the WFW machines, it is best to have the NT server up, and then run the WFW network drivers from DOS, setting them up as a peer to peer network, all connecting to a comon directory on the NT server. Set up you network paths to point to that directory, and you should be set. You can also set your images to render to the NT server hard disk or keep them local on the slave machines hard disk. -brian

sus, With the setup you have, you can use the NT machine as a SERVER( ie, a place to keep files) and the WFW machines as 3DS masters and slaves. 3DS will never run on the machine that has NT, it is not compatable. For the WFW, it is best to have the NT server up, and then run the WFW network drivers from DOS, setting them up as a peer to peer network, all connecting to a comon directory on the NT server. Set up you network paths to point to that directory, and you should be set. You can also set your images to render to the NT server hard disk or keep them local on the slave machines hard disk. Check into the 3DSNET.TXT document again, paying special attention to the peer- to – peer network setup questions. That is what you need to set up. -Brian
