can you share with me your secret on how you manage to tend to all
the threads you weave on the various nets, subs, etc.
Like what software do you use on Cserve, and on PCGnet?
Do you store the threads, i.e. the forum traffic? BIG Hard Drive? Tape?
Aside from mail addressed to you, how do you monitor traffic on the highway
here in ASOFT? I'm just trying to stay on top and with the highway
expansion and all its gettin tricky. Fact is, first time I posted this note,
I accidentally posted it to myself. Thread management of StudioCity is a lot
easier since it got its own forum. But I got a feeeeling its gettin ready to
bust loose. Any tips you have are welcome.

PMJI, Kevin, but I use OzCIS (shareware) and D/L all the messages in the areas
that interest me. It is similar in cost to D/Ling message headers alone and
returning to retrieve particular threads, but without the extra calls. I can
then page through ALL the messages and read those that look interesting. If I
am in a hurry, I can access an index and just read the threads I am concerned
with.

I'm totally swamped. A friend showed me how WINCIM worked tonight..last nite?
I'm operating at text level using ProComm Plus. I capture threads and read
them offline. I need to get a faster modem… That's a priority.

My activities on FIDONET and elsewhere have become mired here. But I'm not
complaining…. SMILE
I want to take this opportunity to tell you yet again how much I have
truly enjoyed your companionship, comraderie, conversation, humor, etc.

then I guess I defer to them for a better choice of words.

I think for FidoNet and other BBS's I still prefer the flexibility of ProComm
and QModem. My brother always liked Telix. Back in the days when I had time
for a FidoNet board, I took advantage of the BlueWave Message Reader. It
allowed you to Pkzip all your messages an DL them in one shot. (Of course CIS
won't allow you to zip your messages… you'd save too much money!)

It varies with the task and channel at hand, Kevin. For messages on Compuserve,
I use TapCIS and WinCIM, for messages on PCGnet I use combination of Procomm
with SLMR.

The process does keep changing… Compuserve _is_ part of the highway. With
Internet I go through a provider and several educational institutes I work
with. In ASOFT, I configure TaCIS to read everything. Most of it is worth it
too! -dave
