#Need to undelete file
4 messages in this thread
Dan, there is a program called UNDELETE which does exactly what you want, as
long as (obviously) the file areas have not been overwritten. It scans every
block on the disk to find the file. I will try to upload it tomorrow
(Wednesday) unless you solve your problem before then.

I downloaded that last night and tried it. My problem appears to be that
uemacs either wrote a new version of the file truncated in length, or it
truncated the origonal. I hope the first as the data of the old deleted file
should still be around (i hope). If the second, I'll probably have to resort
to some sort of disk editor to look through the disk to find my missing data.
Undelete only found the new truncated version of my file. I'm going to see
what DISKSALV has to offer. Thanks for the help.

I tried DISKSALV but it doesn't do what I need. I guess I need some sort of
disk editor to try and find my missing text. Any suggestions?
Thanks for all the help so far.

Dan, is this a text file? Would the AmigaDOS "Search" find a string that might
help you locate the rest?
For disk editors, Sectorama is good, but I find the interlace screen very hard
to read for long at a time. DiskX is also good, and uses the regular screen
resolution. Both are in the libraries. I have another, called "Blockbuster"
that I've enjoyed using, too. Don't know if Blockbuster is here or not. If
you need it, I could upload.
