#SUPRA/SIDECAR PROBLEMS

I have a supradrive scsi interface between my A-1000 and my Sidecar. For some
reason the sidecar display fills up with garbage as well has having other
problems when the Supra interface is between the A-1000 and it. Does anyone
know what the problem may be and how it can be corrected?

The bus probably needs to be terminated. Does the Sidecar have a pc-board
connector at the end of the bus traces? If so, and there is nothing plugged
into it, you could kludge up a pc-board to provide the termination. Larry,
what did Brad Fowles say worked? There were twenty lines that required
termination for the LUCAS board to work properly with some other SOTS add-ons.
The 16 data lines and four control lines. I can't remember the values off the
top of my head, but I have them at work. It involves a capacitor from the line
to the +5V supply, and a capacitor in series with a resistor from the line to
ground.
I saw the very first prototype of the PAL expansion chassis that Brad Carvey
built for Byte-by-Byte. He said the bus termination was the trickiest part of
the design (which worked quite well, by the way. It just cost too much). The
other thing you might try is the PAL grounding trick that Amazing Computing
published last year. Don't follow the directions in the original article,
though. Get the following issue, which published a corrected diagram.
I'll have to open up the sidecar to try to see if the Amiga bus terminates into
a PC slot. I realy don't think it would, but then again I haven't read much on
the interworkings of the Sidecar. Thanks for the help.

The SideCar doesn't work with very many things. In fact, the Amiga
A1000 or A500 are not designed for more than ONE add-on to the side, so it is
very likely you won't be able to use the 2 together.
