I'd like to loft as a single object a five letter word. If I do not use any
beveling, skin works fine. If I bevel the letters however, skin tries to
connect the letters, and produces a self-intersection error. Am I doing
something wrong, or does the bevel function do something weird to lofted
objects?

Heck… I didn't even know you could loft a multi-element object with holes in
it like that and then skin it AT ALL, let alone with a bevel. Amazing!
