#ACAD r13 for Windows
4 messages in this thread
Hi,
We currently have ACAD r12 for DOS but are upgrading to R13 for Windows just as
soon as we can get our hands on it.
Can I take rendered images from r13 and use them directly ( or import them )
into Animator.
I am considering whether to buy Animator so that we can make marketing
promotions.
Is it easy to use ?
Does it take a long time to make simple animations
I have a copy of the windows animator player but this is v1.1. Some of the
animations we have from one of our suppliers does not display the colours very
well but others do display OK. The ones concerned work fine from a DOS player
?
Any ideas why ?
Regards, Peter

Yes. You can save the files as rendered images…and then bring those images
into Animator Pro.

That depends on what you want to do with it. However, if you take the time to
go through the tutorials, you should be able to handle most projects with no
problems.

Once again, that depends on the animation. However, there are many techniques
available for creating animations with a minimum of effort or time.

Are you using a 256 color windows driver? If not, try reconfiguring Windows
for a driver that _specifically_ supports 256 colors.

Sure.

Yes.

Well, does it take a long time to make simple drawings? <g> It depends on what
you're a drawing. The word "simple" is to nebulous. Also, it depends on how
you're looking at a thing. Look at the time it takes, for example, for AutoCAD
to do HIDE on 3 3DFACE square entities. If we look at all three surfaces with
no overlapping:
___ ___ ___
| | | | | |
|___| |___| |___|
how many hiding calcs are there? None. However, if we look at them like this:
___
| _|_
|_| _|_
|_| |
|___|
how many hiding calcs do we have? (3). Notice that the number of entities is
not relevant here… the geometry is the same, yet hiding calcs vary. make
sense? In other words, we can't answer "how long it will take" without knowing
what you're look at, how close or far away it is (which determines the amount
of screen being treated… smaller images go faster to work with than larger
ones) or how you're looking at it.
Animator Pro works great though for generating animations from AutoCAD. It's
not hard stuff, but it's not instant either. -dave
