Im having a problem recording to the PAR card from 3DS4. The TGA files start landing on the dedicated 2217a Micropolis hard drive and then it stops and I get an error message that the PAR cannot open the TGA file or the file is corrupt. The resault of that is the PAR program locks up and a reboot is necessary. The settings are as required. 752x 480x.85 res. block size 200 to 220 and the Q factor is 23. It never happens on the same frame twice of the same animation. It feels like a hard drive problem, setting etc…. Can anyone help or suggest???? Thanx Much for any help….. Greg Hart

Greg: PMJI, I believe the suggested Block limit for the NTSC version is 240, if not I'll suggest it right now. <G> Are you using the NTSC or PAL version? Sometimes the message that you are receiving occurs when you are simply trying to create a file which already has an identical name on the PAR drive. Bob

Hi there Bob Thanx for you help… The problem ended up being a bad Micropolis 2217A hard drive. The heads were apparently sticking and couldn't scan the entire disk. The next day It died altogether. Micropolis replaced it no probs there. Everything runs just fine once again. I was running at 240 on the block size and was switching to 200-220 to see if it mattered. It did not…. of corse. Thanx again Bob… Greg

Greg: Good to hear you are back in business. I'm having a disk drive problem at home which is starting to get annoying. I've never had to reformat a disk drive except my PAR drive but it looks like I might have to give it a shot. Do you know if a reformat will map out all of the disk's defective areas? Time for me to read up a bit as I am fearful of this process. Bob
