#moonglow

To anyone,
This is sooooo simple, I can't figure it out. I've got a background picture of
a star-filled sky, I've got a spherical texture-mapped earth, and GLOW.IXP. I
can make the earth glow just fine but as soon as I load the background pix in
as the top layer, it no longer glows. Even if I render a still of the earth
with a mask generated, I cannot get the earth to glow over a background. This
one's so simple, there are no instructions in the manual! A bit of assistance
please…
Thanks,
Michael
Hi michael,
<< I can make the earth glow just fine but as soon as I load the background pix

if you put a image over anything else in the Video Post, you'll only see the
image
put your image behind your KF scene and it should work OK.
also, if you just want a gloy around the outside of the earth, set your filter
to be Alpha > 0.

kyle,
thanks for responding. perhaps i was not sufficiently clear. i was not putting
the background image OVER the top of the model and "glow". the background
logically gets loaded first, which is to say the first entry in the video post
dialog, followed by the model or KF process, followed by the glow.ixp. when
this combo is rendered, you do indeed get the background with the model on top
of it but alas, no glow.
i'm still stumped but do appreciate your suggestion.
thanks, michael
Michael,
There is a file called NOALPH.ZIP here in the asoft forum. it contains an .ixp
process that clears the alpha channel. put it right after your background
image in the video post queue, but before the KF scene. and you will see that
glow works how you want it to if you are using ALPHA > 0 for the glow.
