Hi, I agree with you all that the backup problem is eating us , but i don't agree with others on this forum that DPS isn't helpfull. The sysop of their BBS is very helpfull… In the meantime i installed a slave-par-drive and before backing up is split everything in 750 frames to this slave. No problem. I found another problem however ?! When i do the following : 1 IFL-file coming from my DOS-drive and another IFL file coming from my DOS-drive and 1 IFL-file coming from the PAR-drive Rendering in VIDEOPOST with the second and third file used with a alpha channel. The stupid machine starts eating my memory : 1e frame rendered 12012 memory used 0 swapped 2e frame rendered 16814 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 3e frame rendered 21425 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, etc…. 32 61425 1234 etc…… after frame 164 or so my disk is full ?!?!?!?!? Not enough memory !? I tried rendering to the PAR and to the DOS-drive no succes however. Did somebody experience this problem before ?. Bye Theo

That's a known r3 3DS problem with IFL files w/ alpha. Gary can fill you in. I guess you need to upgrade. Dave

Thanx for your reply, i want to upgrade !!!!!!….. but it is easier to talk to the queen here in Holland than to get an upgrade. But i will keep on trying CIAO FOR NOW Theo

why theo, I already got R4 3 weeks ago I had no problem getting one here in Belgium. You probably have to find a multimedia registered Autodesk dealer with a good relationship with the Autodesk people. BTW it's well worthwhile for the IPAS add ons, I haven't used them fully yet and am still reading the manual in between work time. Christophe

Theo: Maybe you could ask the Queen to get you upgraded! <G> Oops, I forgot, Autodesk is bigger than a mere monarchy! Dave
