#PAR/RazorPro 3DS Problem
3 messages in this thread
All and anyone –
For some reason, when I pull a particular sequential series of files off the
PAR and process them through 3D Studio as a background, 3D Studio draws the
files at twice the speed that they were originally laid down at (29.xxx fps).
This
is true no matter what settings I use in the PAR .pxp dialog – I've tried
combinations of fields and frames, incremented vs. filename, etc. I've even
changed the settings on the PAR contol panel to 15 fps to see if it would make
a difference (a long shot). I also created an .ifl to hold each frame for two
units – all to no avail. In every case, the PAR plays the frames at the normal
frame rate when set at 30 fps, and in every case 3DS pulls them off at twice
the
appropriate rate.
Let me give some information on the original animation. I took an .avi
file, and ran it through Razor Pro to convert it to a series to a
.tga series, and at the same time resized them from 320×200 to
640×480, and set the frame rate at NTSC (29.xxxx fps). The animation
played back correctly. I brought a second avi into Razor and did the
same thing to it. Then I brought both animations into Razor Pro as
native .ani files, and used a crossfade transition between the two of
them, and applied the Gallery Effects texturizer filter to them. The
resulting .ani files plays correctly on the PAR, but if I try to load
it into 3D Studio as a background, it plays at twice the speed that
it was laid down at.
Anyone have any ideas on how I could slow the frame rate down?

According to a what someone else told me, the problems is with 3DS.
It seems 3DS calls an image file twice when it is used as a
background, VP entry, texmap, ect., once to do some kind of
initializing or checking of the file and once again to use it. Since
the PAR gives the next frame in an ANI every time an image is called
(when your export options are set to sequential) every other frame
gets skipped. To solve this problem, I ended up using an .IFL and
setting my PAR export option to FILENAME (at least thats what I
remember doing). Hope this helps.
