#sphinx 3D mesh?
8 messages in this thread
Regarding your quest for the Sphinx.
I don't know much about such things. But you might want to hit up
the Jerde Partnership in Venice, CA. A few years ago, Thomas
Jaggers, the CAD director there, was part of a team that recreated
the Sphinx (with nose). Don't rule out Viewpoint's willingness to
work with you and your budget however. They're a good bunch.
BTW Have you ever read a book called "El Flechador Del Sol"? If so,
I'd be interested in knowing what it's about. Thanks.

yes, I met John Mellor @ SIGGRAPH and I worked with Tom Tulles<sp?>on
the "PC Graphics Unleashed" book. I'm just trying to look for a PD
one before I go knocking at a company's door – I'm on a budget($0)
and they're trying to do bussiness.

Is it in spanish or just the tittle? The tittle means literally "The
guy that shot the sun with an arrow". I could check public libraries
near my home (Maryland).

Sorry. Best advice I have is call information for Venice.
RE: El Flechador Del Sol
I know nothing of it. It was mentioned in a book I was reading. I
just thought I'd bounce it off you since I was punching in with an
attempt to help with the Sphinx.
I studied Spanish for two years in high school. I really wish I had
been able to become fluent. I just didn't retain much. I figured
the Sun part. Wasn't sure on "Flechador." Fletch. Fletcher.
Anyway, thanks for the help. Best of Luck with your project.
WAS: finding sphinx 3D mesh
IS: foreign languages and literature<g>
Kevin: Thanks, I'll check on the Jerde Partnership.

"flecha" = arrow
"flechador" = person who shoots an arrow.
"sol" = sun
Hope that helps 😉

wouldn't this kind of mesh be found in some medical animators files?

Ton Jaggers at The Jerde Partnership can be reached at (310) 399-1987. We
worked with them taking the Sphinx they did into 3DS and flew around it for a
National Geographic special and a Nova show, also.

Greg:
Thanks for the info. I'll try to contact them today.
