Larry,
How can you be an avid Videonics user if you use the windows program?
What are the requirements for the windows program. My main computer is a
laptop with a 200 meg harddrive. Would I be able to use an editing program on
my computer? What about graphics and titles?
Also, do you know anything about remote mikes for a hi-8 camera?

At one time or the other I have had one of almost all the Videonics products,
but that was before I got the computer.
Now I'm trying make the best of both worlds. I am selling off my Thumbs Up
edit controller since I have replaced its capability with that of the Video
Director which will do my cuts only editing using the LANC control of my
playback deck. To get frame accuracy, however, you would need an editlink
controller from FutureVideo to process the SMPTE timecode. But I'll give up
the accuracy for the ability to easily change my edit lists, besides that the
Video Director does have a feature to mark a scene as a calibration frame which
allows me to position my playback deck precisely where I want it.
I am keeping the MX-1 mixer. It is an extremely useful tool and lets me do A-B
roll editing when I need to. I also use it in conjunction with ACTION 2.5
software to produce titles using the keying capabilities of the mixer.
The one thing missing from the Video Director is GPI trigger support. I have
written Golddisk but have not heard from them yet.
It does support titles, graphics, video toaster, but it could use a few
enhancements here and there to make it a better product.
