John, I am a new forum member, so please forgive my stumbling around. Your name seems to be everywhere, so I thought I would contact you for a little guidance. I am in the market to purchase some video hardware for my PC. My level is novice. I have narrowed down my choices to the videologic 928 (VL) and Adobe premier & photoshop. I am a little confused re DCI vrs GDI and decoders (MPEG – JPEG) ??? My goal is to have full screen video that I can import and edit and put back on tape. I recently saw some info re Adobe Premier for MACINTOSH with a writable CD that eliminated the info volume problems etc. I am looking for some good reccommendations re this setup. Can you direct me or give any good advice ? Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks. Regards, John Bouvier

Hi John, I'll do my best to help you but am honestly not familiar with that particular board. Can you describe it to me/us and we will have a go at wether it sounds good or not? Sorry I am not much help… Regarding the compression/decompression schemes. There is still a war going on there, and for your needs at this time, I don't think it is that important a consideration as long as your quality needs are met. The technology is sure to continue to advance, and whatever you buy will be obsoleted quickly. BTW, Michael Yaeger has posted a message about a new product that sounds like it will advance the state of the art another level. I have asked him to post a little more information, like where to read an advertisement for it, and that may be worth a look before you leap. Stay tuned 🙂 -John
