#PC Video File Formats

platform and technology (AVI) while others are promoted by public,
non-commercial entities, or some are in-between. <<<
Gee, John, notably absent from your list of private formats is
Quicktime. This isn't a subtle form of hypocritcal Bill Bashing is
it? <grin>
Oh, has Microsoft ported AVI to Mac? I know I've seen Quicktime for
Windows, of course. 🙂 I really don't play favorites. If you have
a better way of summarizing and judging and categorizing all the
movie formats, please step forward. I left out FLI/FLC and perhaps
others.
I think I alternate between Bill Love and Bill Hate. I admire what
he's done, I often think that he's done exactly what all his
detractors would have done in his shoes, except he's been very
consistent where the others have occassional failures and
misjudgements. And earlier this year, billg actually responded to an
e-mail I sent! So he must be a nice guy. But then Bill "Hate" kicks
in, when I curse how much money I send them on a regular basis, when
I see how they've got the media eating from their hand, and I think
that ten years from now, we'll look back at Microsoft and laugh at
how small they were in 1994. 🙂
My understanding is that pretty much only the QT runtime has been ported. You
still need an Apple to create/edit video? Am I misinformed?
About BillG. You've pretty much hit the nail… And, apparently, there are no
filters on his email. He reads every item sent to his inbox and will respond
positively to intelligent mail.
Patrick.
