Mark,
I normally sit back and watch these exchanges between the `Pros', but you
are starting into the personal attack area with Jim. While most of us here are
skeptical of any unofficial news or rumors, the arguments you are using against
Jim go beyond the topic under discusion. I have a lot of respect for you (and
Jim Drews) and I do tend to be skeptical of some of the claims he has made,
(I'll wait and see) but statements like: "His history is that the products that
he does release takes months and months to get right after the release." And:
"His history is that the products that he does release takes months and months
to get right after the release." Sound more like sour grapes to me. Exchange
ideas and question his claims, but don't attack. I have heard others dealers
here complain about CEI too.

Steve,
I do not consider my statements to be a personal attack. Someone said
that the history of Jim Drew spoke for itself. I recounted that
history..are you disputing it? If so.. what did I recount incorrectly?
I try very hard to not engage in personal attacks. They are not
productive and do little to sway opinion. What I have done is try to take
statements from Jim Drew and apply arguments and reasoning to these
points. A process that I am sure that is unpopular as many "want" to
believe in Jim Drew's words. After all, who am I? A guy that works for
SCALA and a sysop here.
I certainly do hope that Jim Drew does not take offense at anything I have
said. I simply disagree with him. I also disagree that Utilities
Unlimited history is something that a new company should be modeled after.
It is amazing how much revisionist history goes around. I remember when
these forums were screaming at Utilities Unlimited when the Emplant was
released–don't you?
I never said in any of my postings that I thought the Emplant was a bad
product. Quite the contrary. I have in fact stated in various postings
how important I consider his product to be.
Regardless if you consider my posting to be an attack. I apologize to
you, and to Jim Drew.

Mark,
I did not mean to come down on you, I have the utmost respect for you and
your contributions to the Amy community. In short when you post here I do
listen. Some goes for Jim Drew and a few select others here. Most I do take
with a grain of salt. Most, if not all, you have said about Jim and UU, I
personaly agree with, BUT has little bearing on the current topic. Jim may have
legit beefs with CEI, others here have stated the same. You may have had a
great relationship with them, but that does not discount what others say.
Emplant is a great piece of engineering, it was a little late and not as
complete as some wished, but that is true with most of the Amiga developers.
The discusion between the two of you is/was very informitive and
entertaining. I just thought the topic was getting skewed and bringing up past
issues not relevant to the current situation, is counter prodictive IMHO.
Please continue to state your views, as I find them most enlightening, You
and SCALA are one of the few shining lights left. (as is emplant)
🙂
