Attn: Steve Ahlstrom, We heard the same story from Commodore a while back but this is not what the real market figures are of course they might want to believe they are. According to Standard and Poors Industry Survey dated March, 1994 Amiga has close to 2% of the entire 130 million PC in the world. Calculate that and see 2.6million but we have actually done additional research and found the figures closer to 3million Amigas worldwide. The Amiga , UNIX, Apple II, Commodore 64, and Atari plateforms combined account for only 4% of the PC software applications market. The Macintosh accounts for 16% of the applications PC Software market while we have found that of the 130million PC world wide 80% are IBM compatible. This is based on primary and secondary research according to Standard and Poor as well as the U.S. Industrial Outlook 1994 report of Computer Software and Networking, located in Washington , D.C. At any rate we are still developing products for the Amiga and feel it has the potential to be turned in the right direction if the chips are placed wisely. Apple/Macintosh currently only holds a 12% morket share and has geared up to hit the multimedia market, making it a niche product. The Apple interestingly enough currently only holds a 4% market share among Fortune 1000 companies virtually none exsistent. The few Fortune 1000 that use the Apple/Macintosh are large advertising firms, and production houses. As I understand it C-UK is leading the future Amigas on a collision course with Apple/Macintosh for the multimedia market. Recently, Apple has begun to license their technology to meet a luck warm greeting. Our feeling is that Apple is vulnerable specifically overseas were Amiga seems to have a real presence. Apple plans to penatrate Japan and is agressively persueing the Japanese market with about an 8% market share currently and sales of $700 million roughly. At any rate it will be in to see if C-UK : David Pleasance and Mr. Anderson can capture and possiblty in the long run cut into Apple's multimedia market share. Not to sound negative but Dr. Peter Kittel's estimates/propganda were the kind of games which lead to the current position Commodre finds itself in. Let's hope C-UK plays a much wiser game with no smoke and mirrors!
