Hi- I need help installing an Emplant board. I have an A4000 with 25mHz
processor. I have installed the board properly, have installed the ROM chips
in the correct orientation chips in the correct orientation and offsetthe
position of the ROMs as described in the hardware manual. I installed the
software on hard disk using the "intermediate-user" setting. My problem: the
ROM images won't dum't dump. When I run the diagnostic, all of the labeled
chips read "BAD" except the except the chip just to the rear of the JP6 jumper.
Any suggestions?

Try turning off Mode Promotion. I remember hearing that the diagnostic
program _needs_ to run in a 15KHz NTSC screen.
Dunno what to say about getting the ROM dumps, as I just dumped mine
straight from my Mac.

The diagnostic program will not run properly if the ROM's are installed on
the board. Remove the rom's, turn off mode promotion, and then try running
the diagnostic again. If it still shows some bad chips, then its time to
give Utilities Unlimited a call.
Also it takes a very specific type and version of the ROM's before you can
dump them to disk. Be sure you have the correct type of ROM's for the
Emplant. Also be sure the jumpers are set properly for the type of ROM you
are using.

The diagnostic will fail while the ROMs are installed. The ROM image is
dumped to your ram disk. After running the ROM image program, look in
your RAM: disk for a file called ROMIMAGE. Also make sure that you are
running all Emplant screens in standard (non mode promoted) displays.

THEM FOR YOU.THATS WHAT I HAD TO DO.IF YOUR USING 4.9 THEN YOU CAN USE MAC
