I think Alpha Paint is a very fine program. I am especially impressed
with the intuitive ease with which brushes can be resized, rotated, and
otherwise manipulated in Alpha Paint and the video-on-video effects are
great. Unfortunately, I can only report that no one from Innovision as
attempted to contact me regarding the fax that I sent them describing my
problems with the Wacom tablet and Alpha Paint. I hope this is only
because Tom Patrick is at the VT Expo. If I have not heard from him in a
week, he is certainly going to hear from me again.

I am afraid you ar going to have to live with the problem the way it is
for the time being. Even the tablet that they were using at the show had
the limited area. Personaly after having used it a little it dose not seem
to bother me. I agree that when tracing a logo the resulution of the
tablet is a bit restricted, however since you are using a toaster why dont
you just plug a camcorder into Input One and freeze it. This seems to me a
vastly faster and easyer way of getting your logo. I try to avoid tracing
whenever
posible.

Speaking of the show…. HOW IS IT?? What can u report? How's the Flyer doin'
these days? Are people upbeat about the possible rebirth of Amiga? How's
Alphapaint going over ? (I LOVE MINE!- have an ArtPad, waiting for support)-
What was Innovision's show special $ on APaint?- Any other exciting news you'd
like to share? (Alpha/Windows NT machines?) Thanks in advance

Actually I have found a good solution. The Wacom ArtZ tablet works with
its full active area in DPaint. I find it easy to trace any line art that
I want to trace into DPaint IV and then transfer the image from DPaint IV
into Alpha Paint to carry out the painting. There are almost always
workarounds to any problem. I would expect that when a piece of software
is advertised as working with pressure sensitive tablets not to find that
it works with only a very limited area of the tablet. And that is
especially true of software having the price tag carried by Alpha Paint.

For the Umptenth time the problem is not with the Wacom Tablets but the ArtZ
which is new, there are some limitations to waht was doable and we are working
on it, give it a rest will ya….You give people a $20,000 paintbox for cheap
and some still aren't happy. If we get the support from the Toaster/Amiga
community and people stop pirating programs perhaps we'll see some more great
software for the Toaster and Amiga. Otherwise…..

In almost everyone of my jobs within the personal computer market it is
appalling how users feel it's okay to steal the best, most expensive
software, since they say they couldn't afford to buy it anyway. I suppose
they all drive Mercedes therefore.

I just wanted to say thank you for such a wonderful program as Alpha
Paint. I picked one up at the expo, and have not stopped using it yet. It
saved my bacon on a currently painful project. And I now consider my
graphics in a whole new light. Things that I used to do across several
programs I now do exclusively in AP. If you would like some samples of the
stuff that I 've done send me an E-mail with where to send the disks and
what format you'd like (IFF, Framestore, JPEG) or if you'd like to see the
finished video.
BTW, good showing at the Expo, will you guys be at NAB?

Thanks and yes we'll have some exciting news at this year's NAB, April in
Vegas! We'd love to see your work. Send IFF-24's if poss. to the address in
your manual. Perhaps we should do an ad featuring our users work? The graphics
at this years SuperBowl are being done in-part with Alpha Paint.

Was just reading the reviews of Alpha Paint in VTU/AW, gotta get me one.
One question: Is there any way to get the interface to the RGB monitor?
The reason I ask is that I have 21" RGB monitors, but only 13" Composite
monitors for Toaster output. (I suppose I could wheel over the 31" TV!)

Hi,
Happy Holidaze! Hope you got my Email. Users have reported that if you turn
your CTRL/RGB montior brightness up you can see the menus to make selections,
but its not good for painting. We are looking at a switch in future versions so
the user can do either or…we'll see. Got a feelin you'll be loving painting
on the big 31. Got a 36 myself and it's cool. A friend is using it in San Fran
in a performance art piece at the Place of Fine Arts, its reported that some of
the graphics at the Super Bowl and during the Rose Parade on CBS are being
created with Alpha Paint as well as Star Trek/Bap 5/SeaQuest. As one of the
last full time Amiga/Toaster developers like the others we're fightin for our
lives so we need users support to continue. But more than any $ that may change
hands, is the feedback, compliments, encouragement and thank you's we've
recieved that make it all worthwhile! 1995 could be the year we re-build the
Amiga and re-ignight the Toaster revolution. If every Amiga/Toaster user would
either;
A) Buy a new piece of Amiga/Toaster H'ware or Software (or a machine if you can
find one!) OR
B) Buy a legit copy of some software that they've used in the past and will
again in the future but haven't gotten around to buying yet.
Sorry if I've gone of the deep end must be the X-Mas, relatives in from out of
town, no privacy, screeming kids, no food in fridge…blues.

One of my X-mas presents to Myself:^) this year was a copy AlphPaint.
I haven't played with LW since the Expo, nice break.
As a user of TPaint, DCTV Paint, Dpaint, ADPro, IM R/t etc. (not
necissarily in that order) I think AlphaPaint is an invaluable addition to
my paint/processing arsenal. It gave my ageing A2000 Toaster system just
the kick in the butt that it needed. I think I'll keep it :^), Just
kidding Ami.
Now if I could get a Quad 060, and Flyer it may keep me from going to the
dark side or worse.

Just wanted to let you and others know that I have had a chance to
extensively use the latest edition of Alpha Paint that you sent me with
the button in the mode menu that allows the program to work with the full
active area of the Wacom ArtZ tablet. Your programmers have done a great
job! Using this version of the program, I am able to use about 80-90% of
the full active area of the Wacom ArtZ tablet. Only approximately a 1"
perimeter around the outer edge of the tablet remains unsable by virtue of
the cursor disappearing off the screen. This is a major improvement vs.
the older edition of Alpah Paint that I had been using and I am having a
great time now using my ArtZ tablet with Alpha Paint. Thanks ever so much
for the hard work you folks put into make Alpha Paint work with the Wacom
ArtZ tablet. I would encourage anyone considering a paint program and
drawing tablet to take a close look at Alpha Paint. This is one fine
paint program!

The ArtZ Wacom tablet is NEW, perhaps it's support is still under
development. All other models of the Wacom tablet work without problems
under AlphaPaint.
