The information on the A1000 trade-in has been held up and will not be
posted today as I had planned and an. At this point, I don't expect to get
it posted before Tuesday.
I apologize for promising to release the information before I actually had
it in hand and COULD deliver it when promised. I also apologize for any
inconvenience that this delay will cause anyone.

I work for a local authorized Amiga dealer and we have the info on the
A1000 upgrade. I take it that it has changed or what? I wont say anything
about it then. I'll let you do the honors.

The official post that I am waiting for is the announcement to the public
of the deal. The information that the dealers have is, to the best of my
knowledge, the exact deal. There MAY have been some interim changes, but I
can't be sure until I get the final draft of the announcement.

Ummmmm…..you cant post the information that ran in a full-page Commodore
ad on page 73 of the March issue of Amiga World?…..is that a rumor as
well?

No…that is not rumor. That is the actual promotion.
The plan was to have the promotion posted on here, announced formally in
the magazines and other ads, and in the dealerships at the same time.

Well,the promotion is in my March 1990 issue of Amiga World, which
just arrived today.
My dealer knew nothing about it today when I checked, of course!

The ad on page 73 states the offer is good through March 31, and you
are to take your A1000 to "any participating Authorized Commodore Dealer".

It also states "Don't miss this special opportunity to become an

And "The offer ends March 31st – and this may very well be your last
chance to get such a deal on an Amiga 2000."

People keep attributing reasons to this A1000: fiscal reasons why
this is of benefit to Commodore. Let me add this one, as a possibility.
Commodore, reeling from the poor quarter and possible lack of any profits
until next Christmas, is anxious to get cash, and quickly. This program
will let them get money today.

Either you didn't read the report properly or you drew some incorrect
conclusions. CBM did not post a loss, they posted less earnings. The drop
in profit was due to lackluster 8 bit sales. Amiga sales were greater than
50% of all of their sales. If their reason for the trade-in program were
to boost profits they'd be targeting the several million C64/128 owners,
not the 150k A1000 owners.
