#Amiga 2000 Problem

I am having a problem with my Amiga 2000 that I am hoping someone out there
might be able to have some insight on. I know I'll have to probably take
this puppy in for service, but I'll pose the problem anyway.
One day, and since then, my screen came up with an odd spilling of green
color on the top half of my usual Workbench Blue. And it looks as I've
described — a spill. This problem also affects all screens the same way,
except for HAM pictures which usually come up all garbaged.
I am wondering if it is one of the custom chips going bad or what. I'm not
sure if anyone can help, but let me know if you can.

frequently, the problem is nothing more that a loose chip. What you
can do, is shut down you machine, remove the cover and, after grounding
yourself (I'm addicted to do that), press down on the various chips that
are in sockets. Some of them are under the disk drives, but try the one's
that aren't first. If that doesn't work, you can lift the disk drives up
and try those too.
BTW, I can't emphasize the grounding yourself part enough. You can
blow a chip very easily with some static electricity. If you don't
understand anything I've said, then have a tech do it. Cheaper and easier,
especially if it's still in warranty.

Byrt, You may have to 'degauss' the monitor. Exposing the monitor to strong
magnetic fields, or changing the monitors location can cause this effect.
The magnet in small hipower speakers is strong enough to do this. Check
with your service tech.
