Anything in the works for a handheld scanner/graphics package in the near
future. I'm very interested in purchasing one but I'm not really sold on
anything already out there. If you folks have one in the pipeline I'd be
willing to wait a few months to check it out. If not can you say anything
about the MIGRAPH scanner system. Thanks Larry Diener 73465,1133
You should check out the Sharp JX-100 COLOR hand scanner. List price is
$995. We have a limited number that we can sell to Compuserve members for
$750. It comes with ScanLab/100. Some sample images from this combination
are located in Dl 2.
How well does it work doing gray-scale from color originals? Is the
resolution still 200 dpi in gray-scale mode?
It will scan up to 200 dpi in 6 BIT gray (not monochrome). Each and every
dot can have up to 64 accurate shades of gray in it. Many hand scanners
produce gray tones by grouping together large numbers of black and white
dots. This greatly reduces the resolution of the device. The JX-100 is a
true gray scale scanner.
thanks for the info about the jx-100. it sounds wonderful. and your
incentive pricewould be much appreciated if I could it. Unfortunately my
limit is in the $400 range. So I'll probably have to settle for a scanner
that does'nt perform as well as ASDG's. Any plans for a BW only scanner?
I'm just a hobbiest/enthusiest and would probably be working with black ink
line drawings (such as those found in commercial clipart books). Thanks
for your time and again for the info. Keep up the outstanding work. With
a company like ASDG out in front of the innovation scene it makes for a
more interesting market place as others struggle to catch up with you.
