I just upgraded to an A3000 (25/100meg) and was wondering what is the latest version of the 2.0 Workbench and Kickstart. The one I'm using is what originally came with the machine and I'm sure its been upgraded by now. Thanks! John Gager

john, developers have received copies of 2.04 (303) a few weeks ago, but CATS releases various versions as availableand puts them up for downloading from BIX. Might try asking someone who's on bix what the latest is. 2.04 is pretty nice and only bug i've found is when using PAL setting on a 3000 w/ multisync monitor, you don't necessarily get a PAL looking graphic screen unless the workbench is in PAL mode and you pull the screen down so the PAL workbench is 'over' the graphics screen behind it a at least a little. Then the PAL graphics screen looks OK. If you switch completely using front/back gadgets then when you bring a PAL graphic s screen completely to the front it looks weird even though Amiga and Monitor are in PAL settings!

Any idea when 2.0 will be available for 2000 owners? – Steve –

i'll bet not long from now. seems 2.0 will be in ROM in new 500s and 2000s so upgrading may (repeat MAY) be possible for existing machines. I believe it will as Commodore seems to plan to leave 1.3 behind (just like 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, etc.) as obsolete. Look for lots of new 2.0 compatible versions of software which isn't yet – developers are getting on the 2.0 wagon pretty fast. I know I am (MegageM).

I think you left the previous message for me, but it was addressed to Tim. Thanks for the info on 2.04 for the 3000. I'm not a developer (yet), so at the present time I don't have access to Bix. I picked up 2.02 yesterday and if I can find someone with 2.04, I'll try to bribe him a little 8^)

Currently, 2.04 is only in developers hands. It probably will never be distributed to end-users. You are likely better off with 2.02. It may be a more stable stopping-point, based on the you-have-to-get-worse-to-getbetter principle.
