#Auto-change .INFO ICONS
9 messages in this thread
Can you tell me the name of a program that will automatically change the
information, in the .info icon files? I want to change the settings in the
default tools setting for multiple icons at one shot, instead of
individually setting each separate icon. I remember seeing this utility
before but can't remember what happened to it or its name since the forum
split.
Thanks,
Chris Tolmie

Chris,
Could it be this:
FIXICO.LZH/B 11K 31-Jan-90 Changes tooltypes of icons easily
or this:
ITOOLS.LZH/B 30K 26-Jul-90 Tools to change icontype and make icons float
Both are in Library 11 of AmigaUser. Hope this is what you meant.
Betty
Betty, Yup, ITOOLS.LZH did the job. Thanks for the help. You do have to
completely close all the directories back to the root device and reopen
them to get the tooltype changes to become effective. I guess AmigaDos
doesn't refresh the memory map after the ToolChange Icon does its thing.
But it worked fine! Sure beats selecting each icon separately and editing
the tooltype string. BTW would you happen to know the name of another icon
utility that allows you to add a comment string to an IFF file? I'm going
to browse around but it seems to me there was also something like that in
one of the libs. Guess I need to learn how to find a list of keywords to
use with the new File Finder.
Thanks again,
Chris

I'm sorry, but I don't know of one that lets you add a comment to each. I
suspect there is one, but I just cannot recall one.
Betty,
OK, thanks for checking, I do recall that there is a program that attaches
a comment to an IFF file. I'll find it sooner or later.
see ya
Chris
I remember one that attaches the comment to an IFF file, but not one that
attaches one to ANY file. I don't recall the name, though. I remember
demonstrating it to our computer club, and some of our artists were eager
to get it. Must have been about 9-12 months ago.
I suspect it is in library 14 of Arts.
Betty
MegaD will add comments to any file. CDT is a utility on a recent
JumpDisk that changes default tools on .info files.
Are you perhaps thinking of Khalid's FLOAT program? That program will
un-snapshot multiple icons, but not change the default tool. I don't
recall seeing any program to do what you're asking.
David, No I wasn't looking for FLOAT, however, Betty pointed me toward the
program that will change the default tool type. It is called ICONtools and
it consists of FLOAT and RePlacetool. They're in the icon library.
