#Seeking Amiga GNU
3 messages in this thread
i have a very strange question…
i've seen tons of ports of gnu utilities for the amiga, and i began
wondering if the fsf (or anyone else) has attempted to write a gnu kernel
for the amiga, or if anyone plans on writing one. i posted this question
on usenet and got two or three responses saying they had never heard of
such a thing, but i figured i'd see if anyone here had.
one other thing i thought i might do is talk directly to fsf. however, not
having a postal or email address or a phone number for them is a problem.
any info on these subjects would be greatly appreciated.
Andy,
As I understand, GNU is waiting on Carnegie-Mellon to finish their
non-AT&T Mach kernel and they plan on incorporating that into GNU. At last
report, CM is still working on Mach (or perhaps their lawyers are trying to
figure out how to make it AT&T lawsuit-proof). Once that is done, I would
imagine that it could be ported to the 'miga fairly easily as one of their
target processors was supposedly the 680×0. I don't have an email address
(can't find it in my GNU EMACS manual :-(, but their snail mail address is:
Free Software Foundation
675 Massachusetts Ave.
Cambridge, MA 02139
Hope this helps!
