What is Firecracker and what can it do? Where can I get more info on it?
Nick… The firecracker 24 is a display card that allows Amiga users to
display more colours, and higher resolution, on static images. In my
situation, for example, I am using the 3D image rendering system 'Imagine'
to create 3D graphics. ON the Amiga I would be able to display 4096 colors
at once. With the firecracker installed, I can view that same image at
1024×482 lines, in over 16 million colors Its a 24-bit display card. This
means it can deal with more color information. Also, it appears to be a
true 24 bit card, which means it does not 'cheat' or have any shortcomings
to display its graphics. You don't get any sort of 'color noise' caused by
some other methods of interpolating colors across scanlines. Basically, its
a beautiful card. This one is on loan to me by our head office here in
Canada. I wish I owned it myself, and I will be one sad puppy when I have
to send it back.
Getting 24 bit graphics into a Firecracker really isn't difficult either.
If you have a ray tracing package that saves in 24 bit, or you own a
digiview, you can get millions of colors on your screen.
The firecracker has dozens of other features which I have neglected to
mention, but what the heck….just what I have outlined here makes it a
worthy buy!

Thats excellent news. I wish I had my upgrade now before I lose the
firecracker board back to head office. sigh. Oh well….by the way, I ended
up having to call your tech. support guys about Impulse format support. I
didn't get the fellows' name, but he was *very* helpful, and I appreciated
the courtesy of the person who answered the phone originally who registered
my ADpro over the phone. Thanks!
