David,
We finally got the Amiga 2000HD with the A2232 serial board. When
I installed the new A2232 preferences, the old preferences icon stayed
around. Should I rename its icon in shell to make sure only the new icon
is used?
I'm on now using it(the A2232) with JRcom 1.01 from serial port
(unit 2; unit 1 being the internal serial port) on the A2232. I just
appended the mountlist from the A2232 installation diskette to the
mountlist in the Amiga and set the baud rate to the serial port that I'm
using to 1200. I think I also set up unit 2(the 1st port on the A2232) to
unit 0 or the default port on the preferences.

P.S. Thanks for all your advice!
Gayle,
I like my A2232 as well. 8)
I left both Preferences icons and programs around. If you want complete
functionality (i.e., the quick access icons to work) with the new version,
I'd recommend just using the WB to rename Preferences to Preferences.old,
and then rename A2232_Preferences to Preferences.
I didn't bother appending the mountlist entries. Whenever I need to mount
SERn: or AUXn:, I just use the extended form of the mount command:
mount SER2: from devs:mountlist.A2232
Sounds like you like your system pretty well so far, no? 😉

David,
I'm definitely having fun with it. I'm still evaluating JRComm
1.01 but will probably buy it. The Amiga setting in the TERM menu seems to
lose characters so I tried the TTY mode. Of course, I haven't read the 80
page UserManual completely yet. Incidently, you haven't seen HOSTILE until
you've printed this manual on a LOUD printer while the rest of the family
is watching a favorite TV show. Oh well, you'd think they wouldn't mind a
little sacrifice now and then! <grin>
