#BridgeBoard Expansion

A few weeks ago somebody asked about expanding the number of slots on the
Bridgeboard. I told them about the old expansion chassis that used to
exist for the IBM PC. (Which are now hard to find because they were never
an everyday thing to begin with.)
I was in the book store today, and a magazine called Computer Craft has the
first of two parts about building your own expansion chassis. This may be
the ticket for those of use who need more bridgeboard slots. This month is
the general stuff about case construction etc. Next month should be
getting down to the real nitty gritty.

February edition of Computer Craft.

Just a quick note to all…
Currently I have 7 AT slots _in_ my Amiga 2000. They are filled (left to
right) with:
TrueVision 4meg VMX memory board
TrueVision 4meg Vista board – Mitsubishi FL6605 monitor connected
AST 8meg Rampage Plus memory board – w/dongles for RIOv5.0 & HR-QFXv2.0
Enhanced 386 BridgeBoard/ATOP
ATI 1meg WonderXL display board – Mitsubishi AUM-1381A monitor connected
GPIB interface board – Howtek 35mm ScanMaster & Matrix QCR-Z connected
Adaptec 1542B SCSI board – 760meg Maxtor connected
A Ricoh 600meg optical/eraseable scsi drive gets moved between the GVP
33mhz Combo scsi board & the Adaptec. Last week I had Windows3 running in
Enhanced mode for a day, but I ran into some setup problems; ended up
reformating the C drive & now I can't remember what I did to get Enhanced
mode working 🙂
The 3 extra AT slots are on a small 'daughter board' sitting on plastic
feet, a half inch above the Amiga motherboard. This small board was cut out
of a clone motherboard that once had 8 AT slots. There are 98 – 3 inch wire
connects between the 4th DOS slot & this 'daughter board'.
QEMM386 v6.0+ is needed on the dos side for memory mangement. Everything
works. DOS v5.0 is pretty fast now that it has its own hardrive.
PhotoStyler v1.1 for Windows runs kinda ok for speed, but… <yuck>
The other "non-Windows" programs whip right along. The Amiga OS is v2.04
running on a tiny Fujitsu 520meg SCSI drive.
