Larry – that wouldn't stop you from doing anything except pulling out the disks, I think. If you have a third drive, can't you do other things? I can do disk copies here and run the HD no problem…. but I do use CLI. Maybe the WB is busy (really don't remember)

Ben, It's the WB I refer to. It is, unfortunately, single threaded, and as long as the sleeping cloud is out and about, you are stuck if you are a WB user. Regards, Larry.

Not _again_ Ben… with WB we have a situation where it is bad enough that it is single threaded. I just like to lobby against crippling it even further. Regards, Larry.

As stated earlier, the designers don't care 'bout workbench. Why is copy and other bench tasks single-threaded? Because the people who would scream about single threading all use the CLI. I wonder if we could get the ARP people to re-write workbench, too? (grin) Actually, that is a fair question. Since Commodore's bench remains primitive, are there any projects out there to re-write it? I seem to recall a primitive "stub" version of a re-write a couple of years ago where the author was trying to stimulate someone else to finish it. Did that go anywhere?

I think perhaps you are referring to 'Hackbench', but I don't think anything came of it. Perhaps someone will do a rewrite (maybe even CBM), and perhaps it will even becoe useful. We can hope.
