#ARP.LIBRARY ?????

After all my problems with LHarc which I still cannot get to work – the
machine keeps saying "Unable to load LHarc. File is not an object module" I
have downloaded lha_110.run which is self-extracting. Well, that has
extracted perfectly on to its own disk but when I try to use it it hangs
and says "ARP.LIBRARY is needed". Does anyone know what this is and where I
might get it. I am missing out on a whole load of software through my
inability to get any dearchiving software to work. Come back Phil Katz &
MSDOS – all is forgiven! Bill Hardman
ARP.LIBRARY is easy to get. Go to amiga filefinder (GO AMIGAFF) anddo a
keyword search for "ARP" (no quotes). Somewhere in there will be a file
called ARP20.ZOO or whatever. Download it. In that file will be all kinds
of command replacements, which you can use or not. Also there will be a
file called (surprise) ARP.LIBRARY. Copy it to your libs: directory, and
all will be functional.
The file is called ARP13.ZOO (I went and checked for you.)

short version: SEA sued PK for using code used in ARC. PK didn't show
up in court.

plead diminished responsibility caused by trying to use an Amiga for
unpacking files. <g>

arp.library can be found in AmigaTech, library 13.
ARPLIB.ZOO 13 29K 09-30-89 Installation program for V1.3 of arp.library
Of course, we now run into the problem that you need ZOO.EXE in order to
unpack arplib.zoo. The arp.library is widely available – on Fish disks,
other public domain disks, and the like, as well as here in library 13 of
AmigaTech. You can find ZOO.EXE in Library 16 of AmigaUser. It is
executable, as the .EXE indicates, and the line that makes it work would
be:
zoo x// path:arp.lib
That should unpack it for you into your current directory.

Thanks, Betty. I'm still going round in circles. It just occurred to me
that because I'm using Tapcis with the Amiga in MSDOS mode via the KCSBoard
I'll end up with ZOO.EXE on an MSDOS disk – unreadable by AmigaDos.
ARRRGH!!!! I will have to try manual operation via JR-Comm which I have
actually got to work. (One of my few successes) I have got Whap! but
because of the aforesaid problem – not least the crazy "file is not an
object module" message I always get with the 3 different downloads of LHarc
I've got, I can't unpack it.

Well…have you tried CrossDOS…a commercial program that lets the
Amiga read MS-DOS disks…or, does this KCSBoard have transfer capabilities
like the Commodore BridgeBoard does?

Don, I haven't tried Crossdos – I've been trying to find a supplier for it
over here. The KCS Board doesn't have transfer capability. You either boot
as an Amiga or an XT and never the twain shall meet. Apart from that, the
product is excellent. It is handling Tapcis and Mirror through the Amiga
serial port so the hardware compatibility is obviously v good. I think
Supra market these boards in the US. HOWEVER – I've got LZ working now so I
sould be using Whap! before too long. Bill

If you have a copy of CrossDOS, your Amiga can read MS-DOS disks right into
your Amiga. It's not an expensive program – about $20-25 in most stores
over here. I'm sure it is available in your stores, too. There are some
freely distributable programs that do much the same thing – but we have to
get you past this "unable to download" problem before you can get them from
us.
If you have access to the ICPUG library, you might ask them to send you a
disk that has MSH or MESSYDOS or MULTIDOS on it.
